Using beans from cofounder (with partner Kristin Panylyk) Santiago Lopez’s family farm in Colombia, the roasteries consistently deliver excellent coffee alongside standouts like the Loxocado (diced cured salmon and lime-brightened avocado on sourdough) and the perfectly yeasty brioche doughnuts.

With locations on Jasper Avenue and in the Mercury Block — looking into a reimagined Wîhkwêntôwin neighbourhood — Coffee Bureau knows all about location, location, location. These spots are ideal for an Americano or a Flat White, maybe a cherry Danish with some cream cheese, and people watching.
I enjoy the cappuccino that’s so rich it doesn’t need sugar. And it’s obviously convenient that the new Mercury Block location is right across the street from the Edify offices. I’m from rural Alberta. Being used to wide-open spaces — think a much colder Radiator Springs from Pixar’s Cars — makes navigating downtown an adventure. The city’s pulse is frantic, and I need a break.
