Edmonton is transforming nearly five acres of surface parking into Warehouse Park, a year-
round public space designed by gh3 and landscape architects CCxA. The downtown site will
feature a basketball court, fitness zones, fire pits and toboggan hills. At its centre is gh3’s
sculptural pavilion, a striking monochromatic structure that honours the park’s location in the
O-day’min ward (Anishinaabe for “strawberry” or “heart” berry) and symbolizes a place of
gathering. Known for marrying bold form with civic purpose, the Toronto firm has left its mark
on Edmonton with nearly a dozen public projects, including Borden Park’s natural swimming
pool and pavilion, plus multiple utility buildings and transit centres. Already a winner of a
2024 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence and named by Azure as one of 2025’s defining
projects, the park is set to open by year’s end.
