Tulip Sandwich
Shoppe
Inside Otto Food & Drink — a
beloved sausage and beer bar in
Alberta Avenue — Tulip offers a
daytime twist on the neighbour-
hood hangout. Open Thursday to
Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the
lunch counter is helmed by Rosie
Colangelo, Otto’s former server-
turned-Tulip-chef whose inventive
sandwiches reflect both creativity
and comfort. Standouts include
the Tonnato Melt, topped with
tuna spread, fennel and pickled
onions, and the Babe, layered
with mortadella, pistachio pesto
and lemon whipped ricotta
on focaccia. The menu is ever
changing, speaking to the
creativity and flexibility behind
this thoughtful new concept.

Mr & Mrs Singh Kitchen
Mr & Mrs Singh Kitchen brings
refined Punjabi cuisine and warm
hospitality to 124th Street. Co-
owned by chef Kulwant Singh
Jhand and Rajvinder Jhand — the
real-life Mr. and Mrs. Singh — the
80-seat restaurant is a family-run
affair with attentive service and
beautifully presented dishes. High-
lights include the sizzling tandoori
platter with charcoal-roasted meats,
a fragrant lamb biryani with cooling
raita and richly spiced vegetarian
curries like baingan bhaji and aloo
ghobi masala. Meals begin with
papadom and chutneys on the
house and end with a sweet ges-
ture — a complimentary mango
cream with pistachios that captures
the restaurant’s spirit of generosity.
