Wild Rose Cakes
Wild Rose Cakes crafts picture-perfect
treats from two Edmonton locations —
its south-side bakery on 99th Street,
and at Obj3cts on Jasper Avenue. Each
creation is a stunning visual composition
of perfectly placed flower petals, tiny
rosebuds and textured icing worthy of
special occasions.
The Lavender Lemon Blueberry cake
particularly shines, capturing the essence
of a fancy tea cake while maintaining the
comforting familiarity of late-summer
blueberry muffins. The Chocolate-Salted
Caramel features delicate, thin layers that
avoid overwhelming sweetness.
From Orange Blossom Madeleines to
rose glazed doughnuts, cream puffs and
rainbow-hued macarons, Wild Rose has
mastered dressing familiar flavours in
special occasion attire. The result?
Instagram-worthy desserts that taste

Duchess continues to reign supreme on our Best
Desserts list, as it’s hard to dethrone a bakery that just
gets everything right (sorry, puns definitely intended).
When I glimpse inside the glass cases, I want every single
sweet on offer, but, no matter what I order, I won’t be
disappointed. The seasonally flavoured madeleines are
perfectly soft, two-bite morsels, the macarons are as
addictive as ever, and even the cookies are elevated to
perfection. For special occasions, there’s no better way
to celebrate and impress guests than with a Duchess cake

The sheer volume of desserts produced
at Bon Ton doesn’t affect the quality,
but it can make your dessert decision

It would take too many words to describe all of the great, house-made flavours concocted at Kind Ice Cream. So,
let’s focus on our favourite. While Kind Ice Cream offers a whack of rotating flavours, the Salted Caramel has just
that right kick of salt, and it’s so darn good, it can make even a miserable afternoon feel like summer. – S.S.
