Q:
Chasing the food dragon: What’s a meal you love that you can’t quite pull
off at home, and need to rely on professionals to fully enjoy?
BREANNA
MROCZEK
I love to bake, but I have
yet to master pastries.

Duchess (page 46) is my
go-to for macarons, and
I love the pain au chocolat
at Brio Bakery.
TOM NDEKEZI
Having given into the evils of meal prepping several years
back, most of what I eat has the bland, joyless constitution
that you would expect of something that was steamed three
days ago. But whenever I want to remind myself what a
flavourful meal tastes like — and the kinds of basic staples
I grew up with — I’ll make my way to The Bedouins Restaurant.
Serving hands down some of the most tender meat in the
city, it’s the perfect spot for when I’m too lazy to drive to my
parents’ place for some home cooking, but also can’t stand to
stomach another bowl of brown rice and chicken breast.
ALICE
MAJOR
I can’t think of a
particular restaurant
meal that I can’t
pull off at home —
because I can’t pull
off anything at home
except basic soups
and stews. It’s not a
meal, but I rather wish
I could make a decent
cup of coffee.
