VICE PRESIDENT, CBRE >AGE 37
Mark Anderson never planned to work in commercial real estate, but it’s clear he was born for it, because “I’m one of those annoying people that loves what I do. I’m excited to go to work every single day.”
Working customer service and hos- pitality jobs to help cover some tuition costs for a double major in biological sciences and chemistry at the University of Alberta, Anderson met the person who would launch his career — a regular at Da Capo who worked in residential development. He offered Anderson a job, and he’s been in real estate ever since (now on the commercial broker- age side).
Now, as a vice president at CBRE, leasing offices in downtown Edmonton, he spends a lot of time advocating for the city.
“I talk to companies and institutional owners and landlords in Toronto and in the United States. And I see it as my job to help convince you that Edmonton is a fantastic city and one that you should be a part of.”
Although he grew up in Calgary, Anderson is a proud Edmontonian. He loves how commercial real estate gives him a chance to get people excited about Edmonton’s potential. He takes his role seriously — working behind the scenes, brokering the transactions that bring workers downtown, and making the core more vibrant.
“I love being part of the news that shapes the city.” – Caitlin Hart
