Rohit’s Cherot neighbourhood officially opens in style — and it’s just the beginning
On a warm afternoon last September, families enjoyed finger food and face painting, games, music and circus artists to celebrate the opening of a new park, all captured by a live painter alongside a replica Eiffel Tower. It was a scene straight out of Paris ... in a French- inspired St. Albert suburb.
“Over 1,200 people attended,” says
Jim Killoh, senior project manager, Rohit Communities. “The weather cooperated, and we had a great day welcoming everyone to the community.”
The community is Rohit’s Cherot neighbourhood, which officially opened this January with 29 homes already sold out of the over 70 that are under construction, and hundreds more to come. And the French flavour isn’t only within the park.
"One thing we've been getting positive feedback on is the architectural guidelines,
inspired by France, like steeper roof pitches, black garage doors and black trim on windows,” Killoh says. “Thus far, we have five different housing types, so people like the choice, too.”
People’s choices will grow with
the surrounding community, too.
Rohit Group donated 25 acres of land to the City of St. Albert, which will
be developing a new Community Amenities Campus, a Recreation Centre, high school, a mountain bike skills park and outdoor sports fields. Cherot will also be a future extension of the Red Willow Trail System, alongside Carrot Creek.
"With a generous provision of open space and amenities to come, Cherot is poised for significant growth.” Killoh says. "It’s a great story, and we’re right at the very beginning." •
