all. Exposed beams maintain some of this mid-century home’s history
but the feel is decidedly modern. Sleek finishes and stainless steel
appliances transform the kitchen. Doubling the height of the great
room and adding twenty-foot windows invite the outdoors in —
gorgeous regardless of season thanks to a lush, beautifully landscaped
backyard and the ravine beyond.
But sometimes you need to close the curtains to the outside — and
with windows this big, the homeowners were seeking something
custom for their needs. Wigger Draperies created the draperies for
the showstopper windows, and all the windows in the home. The
choice of fabric lends texture and warmth that big rooms require.
“With these large homes, most clients come to us looking for
softness,” Aga from Wigger Draperies says. “We used ultra-modern
translucent sheers to respect the view and used formal velvet to define
the living room and dining spaces without creating physical barriers.”
Another original element Vicky’s Home maintained during the
renovation is the gorgeous metal spiral staircase that leads to the
newly renovated primary suite on the second floor, complete with
home office, laundry, walk-in closet and a balcony, to catch some
fresh air amongst the trees.
The renovations transformed a beautiful but dated home into the
kind of living most people only dream of — places to live, work, play
and connect with family without leaving the property. HT
