St. Patrick’s Day is still a week away, but it’s never a bad idea to make plans early. High Note Bar & Grill is hosting a jam-packed celebration with an Irish food menu, green beverages and an open stage.
“For St. Patrick’s Day, we’re doing our regular Thursday night jam,” says Susan Bolseng, co-owner of High Note Bar & Grill. “We’re just putting an Irish flair on it. So we’re asking people to bring in their Irish tunes and any Irish-related instruments they have.”
Mike Chenoweth from Resonate Music School and Studio hosts the open jam. Sign up begins at 7 p.m and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Don’t feel comfortable getting up there by yourself? Chenoweth uses his music expertise to pair people together so the experience is less intimidating.
“He knows a lot of the artists, so he’ll talk to everyone and try to match people up so everybody feels comfortable,” says Bolseng.
The family-owned bar will pour green beer and house-made shamrock shooters in honour of the festive holiday. Last St. Patrick’s Day, High Note Bar & Grill put its chefs against each other in a friendly competition of creating the best Irish stew. One was chosen to be the house recipe and will be the food special on Thursday. Bolseng says they also have a few other tricks up their sleeves.
“We’ll do a couple fun things like the luck of the Irish where we put clovers under some chairs and give out some prizes,” says Bolseng. “We just want to make it a fun night.”
High Note Bar & Grill, located at 12315 118 Ave., is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day 11 a.m. to midnight on March 17. Open stage starts at 7:30 p.m.
