There’s something special about hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind art and furniture made from wood — I think of the tables and chairs my grandfather makes, supplying my family with beautiful pieces since before I was born. Thanks to Tricia DeJulia and Ralph Reichenbach, we can appreciate Alberta-made works of art at their upcoming Father’s Day weekend exhibition.
Reichenbach started the exhibition with his wife, DeJulia, in 2021. After seeing there weren’t many local opportunities and venues for woodworkers, they decided to “create awareness and give [another] platform for them,” DeJulia says.
The upcoming exhibition will feature different pieces from woodworkers from around Alberta. People can “expect to see some of the finest woodwork that can be done,” Reichenbach adds.
The gallery will be indoors. But it’s spring, so the couple wanted to give people a chance to go outside the gallery, where they can sit at tables and purchase food while listening to music.
“They’ll have a great time [and] be surprised [by the] high level of art we have here in Edmonton,” DeJulia concludes.
Summer Sidewalk Art Show Series: Woodworking with Style will take place June 18 at Bay 1 Gallery.
