The Colombian Coffee & Roastery
The Colombian Coffee & Roastery brings coffee culture to Edmonton neighbourhoods, now with locations in Glenora, the French Quarter, Parkallen, Mill Creek and Forest Heights.
The interiors strike a perfect balance between industrial design (exposed conduit included) and cozy comfort. They’re the kind of places where you can settle in for work, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a consistently good cup of coffee.
Using beans from cofounder (with partner Kristin Panylyk) Santiago Lopez’s family farm in Colombia, the roasteries consistently deliver excellent coffee alongside standouts like the Loxocado (diced cured salmon and lime-brightened avocado on sourdough) and the perfectly yeasty brioche doughnuts.
Whether you’re ordering a straightforward latte or exploring their “not-coffee” offerings, the always friendly service matches the welcoming industrial-chic spaces perfectly. – Lauren Kalinoski

Coffee Bureau
With locations on Jasper Avenue and in the Mercury Block — looking into a reimagined Wîhkwêntôwin neighbourhood — Coffee Bureau knows all about location, location, location. These spots are ideal for an Americano or a Flat White, maybe a cherry Danish with some cream cheese, and people watching.
I enjoy the cappuccino that’s so rich it doesn’t need sugar. And it’s obviously convenient that the new Mercury Block location is right across the street from the Edify offices. I don’t know what else a coffee shop can do to curry favour with our judges than open up literally steps away from the editor’s desk. – Steven Sandor
