Exercising more is a top resolution every year, but it’s also one that people don’t stick with. Let’s face it, going to the gym can be intimidating, which is why we’ve created a list of fitness studios and gyms that take the pressure off and provide a great workout.
Put the pedal to the metal at YEG Cycle, an indoor cycling studio with two locations — one on Jasper Avenue and the other on Whyte Avenue. The studio offers over 10 50-minute classes a day starting at 6 a.m and ending at 7:45 p.m.
Classes are beginner friendly, and focus on positivity and motivation as opposed to calories burned. The high energy classes are choreographed to music so get ready to lift out of your seat and ride out of your comfort zone. Classes are $25 each, or new riders can purchase a monthly pass starting at $75 for unlimited rides.
Learn how to box like a champion at Champs Boxing, a downtown boxing-inspired fitness studio owned by eight-time Women’s World Champion Boxer and 2022 Edifier award winner Jelena Mrdjenovich. Champs Boxing offers three types of classes: K.O. Classic, Bag Drill Burn and Bootcamp. Each class is between 50 and 60 minutes and no previous boxing experience is required. Champs also offers private one-on-one lessons for anyone wanting to advance their skills. Individual classes are $25, and class passes and memberships start at $110.
Receive a well-rounded workout at Hive Fit Co. The fitness studio offers cycling, rowing, yoga and high intensity classes. The studio introduced Hive Online in 2020 for anyone wanting to get in a workout at home. Individual classes are $10 for Hive Online or $18 for drop-in studio classes. Class packages and memberships start at $95.
Train with a professional, a friend or a group at The Projct, a private personal training studio located in West Edmonton. The goal of The Projct’s classes is to create strength and confidence in everyone who takes a class. Take a solo personal training session or bring a friend for partner training. Two group classes are offered: Project X, a full body training and strengthening class, and Project Strong, a dedicated lifting class. Drop-in classes are $25 and memberships start at $200.
Raise the barre at StudioB Fitness, a south side boutique barre studio also offering recently added trampoline cardio classes. The studio offers six different classes ranging from 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes. The classes use a range of ballet-inspired barre technique, yoga and cardio. Classes start at $22 and memberships start at $175.
Move forward with a relaxing yoga class. Yoga Within is a family-owned yoga studio on Whyte Avenue that offers over 15 classes including Beginner Hatha Yoga, Core Strength Yoga and Yoga for Stress Release. Classes are $18.
