Run clubs have become a go-to way to meet people, get moving and feel part of something bigger. In a post-pandemic world where people are craving real connection — and with thousands of new Edmontonians arriving in search of a more affordable, community-oriented lifestyle — these clubs have taken on new relevance.
But how do you find the right one for you? Some cater to interval runners, others to dog owners. Some end with a pint, others with a stretch and an ice cream. Most are free and easy to join, but it helps to know what you’re walking — or running — into.
We’ve assembled a list of four Edmonton run clubs worth checking out. While each has its own vibe, all are designed to be friendly to first-timers. So if the idea of showing up solo feels intimidating, rest assured that every one of these clubs will make you feel like part of the pack.
You’ll find each of them on Strava, an exercise tracking app and social network, handy for connecting with other runners across the city. After all, if you still can’t find the club for you — start your own.

Wild Rose Runners
One of Edmonton’s longest-running clubs, Wild Rose is a volunteer-led social crew that’s been meeting year-round since 2016. From May to October, runs usually begin at Emily Murphy Park; in the winter, locations rotate with updates shared weekly on Strava and Instagram. Each run kicks off with introductions and ends with a post-run hang at different restaurants and bars. Wild Rose’s routes offer a short (5 to 6 kilometres) and long (9 to 11 km) option, with regroup breaks so no one gets left behind. Runs cover both trails and roads, often through different parts of the core, with the occasional theme or bit of local history thrown in. The vibe is casual and community-focused, with a strong emphasis on the social aspect. Dogs (on leash) are welcome, and most summer routes are stroller-friendly — just DM to confirm.
Runs: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Emily Murphy Park (usually)
