Enjoy a day at Kiwi Nurseries — except you might get more than you bargained for. The greenhouse has transformed into a haunted house and the trails around the property are hiding creepy creatures. Are you brave enough to enter?
“Everyone loves that it’s family-oriented, and that they can actually bring their small children to it in the beginning, and then later on, it’s a little bit scarier,” says Ashleigh Munro, garden centre coordinator at Kiwi Nurseries. “Any age group can go through it successfully without being overly scared or still being able to get scared if they want a different experience.”
Families with young children can go through between 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. where they’ll see blow-up displays and props. The haunted house gets progressively scarier after 7 p.m., with actors in the haunted house and on the trails. Each group will get a mini flashlight to navigate the haunted house and trails. Expect to see witches, graveyards, and even a wedding gone wrong.
“We want families to be able to actually enjoy themselves safely because they are able to social distance,” says Munro. “We just want to get the community back out doing something, enjoying nature, and just having a good time.”
Kiwi Nurseries is operating the haunted house to support the Parkland Food Bank. A portion of the admission price goes towards the food bank and guests can drop off donations upon arrival.
The Kiwi Nurseries haunted house is open October 29 to October 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5 a person, with $2 going towards the Parkland Food Bank, and children under 10 are free. The attraction takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk through.
Kiwi Nurseries is located at 31313 118 Ave NW, Acheson, AB.
