It’s a Candy Cane Christmas theme this year at the Muttart Conservatory. The glass pyramids in our river valley will be striped red and white for photo opportunities (and pictures with Santa!), concerts, crafts, and dinners at the Muttart.
“It’s part of so many people’s traditions,” says Attractions Program Manager Sarah Gericke.
The Muttart staff have been creative to become even more inclusive, accessible and prolific in this year’s offerings and events. Bring a book, wander, and sit at the fireplace on a chilly afternoon — “its a place to just be,” Gericke says.
It’s offering Christmas Around the World field trips for kids, holiday card making, poinsettia painting, holiday tag making, photo walks and plant lectures with “interpreters who know so much,” as well as special ticketed events and nights out for adults.
Cafe Bloom, the on-site restaurant-cafe, offers private dining in a geodome out on the patio. It’s part of creating an all-season “fifth pavilion” out of the courtyard which will be filled with fire tables, twinkle lights, festive decorations and music through the holiday season.
Pick up a poinsettia for sale, enjoy the iconic architecture and feel “the vibe when you walk in on a snowy day and it’s dark outside but inside everyone is happy,” recommends Gericke.
From November 23 to January 7, the feature pavilion will be transformed for the season.
