Grab a drink, catch a show and laugh until you cry at the second annual Grindstone Comedy Festival

The Grindstone Comedy Festival is back in action with an all-Canadian lineup featuring Jon Dore, Chris Locke, Adrienne Fish and others.
“As soon as we heard that we could open, we decided to do the comedy festival,” says Byron Martin, artistic director at the Grindstone Theatre. “There’s a lot of excitement about coming out and being able to gather safely and to come together.”
The second annual festival will take place indoors and outdoors at the Grindstone Theatre, and will feature stand-up comedy, improv, workshops, parties and beer gardens. Each event is ticketed separately, and it’s best to grab your tickets in advance as shows are selling out. But coming down to the grounds is encouraged, even if you don’t have a ticket.
“You can come and just hang out at the theatre all weekend,” says Kathleen McGee, a stand-up comedian who came up with the idea for the comedy festival. “But most of all, we just want people to know the Grindstone Theatre is here, and it’s such a great venue for comedy.”
McGee says the festival is the perfect opportunity to discover and support Canadian comedians, especially the ones who don’t perform in Edmonton often.
The Grindstone Comedy Festival takes place from July 21 to 25 at the Grindstone Theatre, located at 10019 81 avenue. Tickets for each show are available online or at the Grindstone Theatre Box Office.
