This 5.1 kilometer hike is a local favourite. It’s moderately trafficked and perfect for all skill levels. The North Sask River Loop trail allows for sightings onboth sides of the bank.
Note: Dogs are also allowed to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Mactaggart Sanctuary’s 2.3-km hike will make you forget that you’re still in the city. This trail is known for its abundant wildlife, but it is rated as moderate, so be prepared for some steep spots.
This 4.3-km hike is the definition of taking the scenic route. It is rated as moderate and features a wide range of terrain, artificial lakes, dense forests and footpath bridges that span the river.

Whitemud Creek Trail is a heavily trafficked 6.3-km hike that is popular among Edmontonian hikers. It provides easy exercise with access to beautiful views and even some “hoodoos.”
This 5.1-km hike features perfect views of the North Saskatchewan River and lush forested areas. It is rated as moderate, but considered accessible to most hikers.
Note: It is considered to be at its best April-October.
Capilano Park Loop Trail’s 4.2-kms run around the perimeter of Capilano Park. This moderate-rated trail offers access to beautiful downtown city views as well as the North Saskatchewan River.
This 9.3-km hike is good for all skill levels. Perfect for leisure walking, trail running, and nature trips, you can wander the paved and gravel terrain trail while enjoying nature.
Kinnaird Park Highlands Hiking Trail is 4.3-km of city scapes and river settings. This trail is rated as moderate and offers a variety of activity options from April until October.
This 3.2-km hike is a hiking hotspot located outside the core of downtown. This shared-use trail is rated as moderate and features views of the golf course and the North Saskatchewan River.
