Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts (ACUA) presents "Embroidered Memories", a folk-art installation and exhibit that features over 750 embroidered Ukrainian Canadian pillows. The exhibition runs from June 2 to 30.
The pieces fill the exhibition space, paying homage to over 150 artisans who created the pillows that reflect both their personalities and cultures with needle and thread. For some artists, these traditional artifacts evoke a deep, intuitive cultural bond to the Ukrainian homeland and immigrant experience. For others, these podushky (pillows) represent thousands of hours of detailed stitchery and artistic excellence.
The exhibition runs from June 2 to 30, and can be viewed anytime ACUA Gallery & Artisan Boutique is open.
