Show your love for the Edmonton arts community and post it to your Instagram account for a chance to win prizes from local arts organizations. The I HeART Edmonton Scavenger Hunt is Edmonton Art Council’s way of celebrating 25 years of supporting local arts.
“Ultimately, to celebrate an anniversary like this, we definitely wanted to throw a big party, but knowing that the pandemic wouldn’t necessarily allow us to do that we decided to facilitate an activity that would allow Edmontonians to discover arts and culture in a safe way,” says Danny Ross, business manager for Edmonton Arts Council’s Tix on the Square.
Edmonton Arts Council posts a list of prompts every two weeks giving participants more chances to win big. Instagram photos or videos proving you did the prompts are your entries into the draw, and selected winners are notified at the end of each two-week period.
The current hunt is on until October 10 and participants can win tickets to A Christmas Carol at the Citadel Theatre, season tickets to Edmonton Opera, and a swag bag of local goodies including a book from an Edmonton-based author and a cinema six-pack from Metro Cinema. The prompts include activities like listening to a local radio station, checking out a local film, sharing your favourite podcast and participating in an event in Churchill Square.
“We wanted to make sure that this is something that families could do together or that people could do after work or on the weekend,” says Ross. “We really wanted there to be a low barrier to entry.”
Edmonton Arts Council’s I HeART Edmonton Scavenger Hunt is on until November 7. The current contest ends on October 10 and a new set of prompts and prizes to win will be announced October 11.
