The City of Edmonton cancelled its fireworks show out of caution to rising COVID cases, however, there are a number of smaller fireworks shows that are currently scheduled for around the city (please check before you head out on Dec. 31). Here are some socially distanced spots to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks.
Strathcona County’s New Year’s Eve fireworks show takes place at Broadmoor Lake Park at 8 p.m. Some great viewing locations include the Kinsmen Leisure Center parking lot, Peace Park west of Festival Place and Sherwood Drive up to the Picnic Shelter.
St. Albert’s New Year’s Eve fireworks starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Meadowview Ball Diamonds. The site will be closed to the public, but you can see the light show from the Red Willow Trails near the Children’s bridge, Lions Park, Millennium Park, Morgan Park and the Larry Olexiuk Field parking lot located at 47 Riel Dr. Parking is available at each of these locations.
Stony Plain is lighting fireworks at 9 p.m. at Heritage Park, located at 5100 41 Ave, Stony Plain.
Stay socially distanced from other groups while watching fireworks and stay home if you’re feeling unwell. Have a joyful and safe New Year’s Eve.
