Glow Edmonton is back after a year in the dark to brighten your holiday spirit. Stroll through the Merry Maker’s Market and browse the 65 vendors or strike a pose in front of the many twinkling light installations.
“We are the largest indoor light display in Canada and we have over a million lights,” says Shannon Van Norman, president of Shadow Vista Productions. “And we’re indoors, so it doesn’t matter what the weather is outside. You’re going to be warm and cozy inside.”
Glow Edmonton’s theme this year is Santa’s Crashed Sleigh— the story is that Santa’s sleigh crashed and he needs help finding his reindeer. Each guest receives a card on entry and the goal is to find all nine reindeer in the 10,000 square foot space.
Don’t forget to explore the light displays while you’re tracking down Rudolph. Walk through the light tunnel, hanging icicles or sit on the swinging light-up chairs. There are also giant presents and ornaments, a Christmas train and a handful of photo opportunities.
Food vendors are on site if you need a quick bite between snapping photos and searching for reindeer. Watch one of the many live performers during your snack break including The Jivin Belles, Mistle-Tones, Paul Woida and the Frozen Princess Show.
“This show really gets you in the Christmas spirit,” says Van Norman.
Glow Edmonton runs until Wednesday to Sunday until December 18, and then daily from December 18 to January 2. Tickets are available online and prices range from $16.99 to $25.99. Family passes are available and children three and under are free.
