It’s a tradition that dates back to the British monarchy. On New Year’s Day, representatives of the royal family host a levee, where ordinary commoners like ourselves can traverse the royal halls and pretend we’re on the set of Bridgerton.
OK, the New Year’s Levee at Government House is not quite as dramatic. But, from 1-3 p.m. on New Year’s Day, the public are invited in to share New Year’s greetings with each other and with Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani.
There will be holiday snacks on offer, as well as live music. And, you can meet the Lieutenant Governor and get a picture taken, kinda like being at a comic con, except you don’t have to pay $100 for the right to pose with a celebrity.
And, there will be postcards on hand to sign — and these will be sent to Canadian Forces members who are serving overseas.
This event does not require advance tickets. So, if you have never toured Government House, this is your chance.
