Night Vision’s distinct sound will reverberate throughout downtown this Saturday, August 14 at The Backyard outdoor venue when Dane, Joluca, Sahib and other music masters take the stage.
All ages can attend this star-studded night featuring all-Edmonton DJs and bands. The Night Vision Collective is coming hot off its Campio patio takeover, and ready for more long-awaited outdoor events where friends and music lovers can dance together.
“Leading up to the beginning of COVID, there was a lot of momentum picking up with our shows,” says event organizer and DJ Sahib Quraishi. “We were looking at ways to expand into doing bigger shows, and when it all came to a halt, it was kind of a punch in the gut.”
Sahib can often be found behind the scenes of Night Vision shows corralling the headliners, putting out fires and making last-minute changes to his setlist before he takes the stage. His knack for wearing two hats was put on hold last year, but he’s confident this Saturday will be smooth sailing when Ceeevs passes him the baton for his 8 p.m. set before headliner Dane finishes off the night.
“When things reopened, it didn’t really feel like we skipped a beat; things just picked up where they left off, which I was very happy and grateful about.”
Day party vibes will be in full effect when the bands start at 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy an eclectic array of indie rock, jazz and psychedelic rock provided by Carl Glacier, Good Information, Beach Towels and Dead Friends. Joluca warms up the decks at 6 p.m., and make sure you have your night vision goggles ready for the DJs spinning into the late-night hours.
Sosyal Scoops ice cream, Casa12doce and other food trucks will be on-site serving up some of the best food Edmonton has to offer. The Backyard is located at 10004 103A Avenue, and ticket sales and other information can be found on their website.
