The University of Alberta Botanic Garden is offering Brunch Boxes all May long that allow guests to stroll through the gardens and enjoy a tasty meal. All you need is a comfy blanket or chair and a sunny patch of grass.
“Part of enjoying life is eating great food — and the Brunch Boxes are filled with delicious brunch fare from local food artisans,” says Georgina Bull, event coordinator at the Garden. “But what makes the Brunch Box experience at the Garden truly unique is the setting — there is nothing that equals spreading out your blanket by the pagoda in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden while the koi swim past in the pond, or in the Aga Khan Garden with the still pools reflecting the prairie sky.”
Each brunch box comes with individual servings of a ham and gruyere croissant, mushroom and asiago quiche, watermelon Greek salad, Saskatoon yogurt parfait, French apple tart, chocolate passionfruit choux pastry and handmade chocolate drizzled pretzels. You also get to choose a drink of choice from coffee, tea, hot chocolate, lemonade, orange or apple juice, or bottled water.
Add-ons like smoked salmon with cream cheese and baguettes, mimosa kits, picnic blankets, handmade personalized cards and flower bouquets are available if you want to make the day extra special.
The Brunch Boxes are perfect for individuals, couples and families — there are even child-sized brunch boxes. Buy your University of Alberta Botanic Garden admission passes in advance and add on the Brunch Box package. You’ll be given your Brunch Boxes upon arrival at the gate.
“It’s such a great chance to slow down, sip a mimosa or a coffee, and reconnect with nature while you relish your tasty brunch,” says Bull.
Brunch Box Packages are $60 per adult and $35 per child. Packages can be purchased online and are currently available Thursday through Sunday until mid-June (visit the website for available dates).
