Read: Kevin Wilson’s 12 Days of Stories
For the past 10 years, Hingston and Olsen, the independent press co-founded by Michael Hingston (Top 40 ‘25) and Natalie Olsen, has published the Short Story Advent Calendar, a beautifully designed boxed set of 24 short stories to be read on the days preceding Christmas. This year, the pair have come up with something a little different — Kevin Wilson’s 12 Days of Stories. As the title suggests, the collection is curated by writer Kevin Wilson and includes 12 seasonal short stories by masters of the form. Like all of their books, the collection is beautifully designed and comes in a display-worthy box.

Watch: Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical
Die Hard, the now-classic action film that takes place on Christmas Eve, has become a staple of the holiday season, inspiring festive merch, Christmas screenings and other yuletide yipikayay events. Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical is perhaps the unlikeliest — and funniest — of the bunch. Written by Byron Martin and Simon Abbot, the team that brought you Jason Kenney’s Hot Boy Summer, the production reimagines the story of police detective John McClane’s night at Nakatomi Plaza as a musical comedy, complete with tap dancing FBI agents. And to top it off, the show adds a touch of Dickens to the mix — turning two Christmas classics into one riotous holiday mash-up.
Watch Die Harsh: A Christmas Musical from Dec. 11 to Dec. 28, 2025 at Grindstone Theatre.
Listen: Ms. Lauryn Hill
It’s hard to fully convey the cultural gravity that surrounded Ms. Lauryn Hill in the mid-to-late ‘90s. From her albums with The Fugees to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, her multi-grammy winning solo debut, her voice — somehow both easy and sonorous — felt like it had always been there. And then, just like that, it wasn’t. After enduring years in the limelight, Hill receded from the public eye, emerging only sporadically to perform. She’s returned to the spotlight now, touring her intimate Artist in Residence show across Canada, with two shows here in Edmonton.
Listen to Ms. Lauryn Hill on Dec. 10 at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
