The Public Christmas Market is expanding this year to two locations. Sip, shop, eat and play at Fort Edmonton Park and the old Army and Navy Building on Whyte Avenue. The market is operating over 11 days in December, with over 130 vendors that will rotate throughout the market.
“No day is going to be the same for your shopping experience and the vendors are all local Edmonton and Alberta makers,” says Kirsta Franke, owner of The Public Food Hub Co.
Both floors of the old Army and Navy building will be utilized for the indoor market and guests can enjoy a variety of live entertainment from DJs and local singers while they shop.
Get the ultimate outdoor Christmas market experience at Fort Edmonton Park. Market vendors will set up under the big top on the midway with a special area for local spirits and beer activations. Local food trucks will be on site and The Public Food Hub is presenting its own European-inspired menu.
“The entire site is licensed, so you can walk around and shop the market with that warm, hot chocolate or boozy apple cider in hand and enjoy the light installations and different photo opportunities,” says Franke.
The midway, including the vintage carousel, will be partially open for guests to enjoy. The street cars and wagon rides will also be operating for guests to travel around the park. After shopping at the market you can attend a show at the Capitol Theatre where Rapid Fire Theatre and Fruit Loop are presenting holiday programming.
“We just want to make sure that we’re providing patrons with that really cool holiday experience that allows them to support and shop local,” says Franke.
The Public Christmas Market is on at the old Army and Navy Building, located at 10411 82 Ave., from November 26 to 28 and December 3 to 5. The Public Christmas Market at Fort Edmonton Park is on December 8 to 12. Admission to each market is $5.
