In partnership with the Chinese Graduates Association of Alberta (CGAA) and the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association (ECBEA), Kingsway Mall will host a virtual Year of the Tiger Lunar New Year celebration on January 29 from noon-4 p.m.
The event will feature a number of free online activities, including Lion Dancing, Year of the Tiger craft making, traditional music ensembles, martial arts, storytelling, special performances and more. Kingsway Mall will bring together a variety of local vendors and cultural representatives for the event, which will celebrate the diversity of the Edmonton community and provide opportunities for guests to learn more about Chinese culture and the significance of Lunar New Year.
Remember that, according to Chinese traditions, you are not supposed to do any housecleaning when the New Year begins. You are seen to be sweeping out the good luck that comes with the change in the lunar calendar.
