Reasons to believe that we are blessed as a city this early summer: the river valley is blooming, the Oilers advanced to the Western Conference Final, and the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival happens this weekend at the Edmonton EXPO Centre.
The two-day sampling event serves a wide range of beers and spirits, food, performances, games, along with beer culture seminars and a big screen for game-watching at the sports lounge.
Interestingly, it was Alberta’s low import tax from two decades ago that made it possible for co-founders Bill Robinson and Mark Kondrat to start Alberta Beer Festivals, and the growth of local breweries shows how well people have embraced craft beer culture.
“Sometimes as an organizer I forget how fun it is to attend festivals,” smiles Robinson. “Beer food is becoming more sophisticated. Nowadays chefs also combine beers as ingredients into cooking more often. Don’t miss the Alberta Pork Cooking with Beer Seminars if you want to collect new recipes up to your sleeves.”
Gain access to all regular events at the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival with $19.99 general admission. It runs June 3 and 4.
