Local author, illustrator, and business owner, Bee Waeland, is launching her new illustration book at Glass Bookshop on April 16th.
Waeland’s The Three Bears and Goldilocks is a humorous twist on the Goldilocks fairy tale from the bears’ point of view. Painted in gorgeous, vivid colours, this wordless read allows the reader to become their own storyteller.
“I designed this book for my new nephew, Jack,” Waeland says. “The story of Goldilocks was portrayed with familiar elements, and I added in some humour as I went along.”
The book launch party hosted at Glass Bookshop is going to be a family friendly Saturday afternoon hangout. Waeland will be in the shop guiding children through a fun, Goldilocks-themed activity package. There will also be cookies from Sugar and Spice, and a story circle formed by the attendees.
“A happy afternoon with a fun story, in a safe, all-welcome place,” says Matthew Stepanic, co-owner of Glass Bookshop.
When asked how nephew Jack feels about the new The Three Bears and Goldilocks story, curated with love from aunt Bee, Waeland kindly shares Jack’s review: “Ah goo. Ah goo.”
The Three Bears and Goldilocks is now on pre-order at Glass Bookshop, Audreys Books and Orca Book Publishers. The book launch event has a capacity of 30 people, no RSVP required. Masks are required in Glass Bookshop and Latitude 53.
