Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) has recently re-opened for in-person visits. It’s now open Thursday to Sunday, by appointment only. Don’t miss a chance to see these three exhibitions that will end soon! The dates for the exhibitions have been recently extended due to COVID-19.

The exhibition features a selection of contemporary artworks that have been added to the AGA’s collection over the last few years. While many of the works seem to be fully non-representational or non-figurative, they all draw from or make reference to concrete, often industrial, things: Floor tiles, tables, circuitry patterns, sheets of sandpaper, masking tape and the contours of the human body. The exhibition runs until August 8.
Explore the golden light of the past at this exhibition featuring orthodox icons from the annunciation to ascension, dating back anywhere from 17th to 19th centuries.See divine icons from Greece, Russia and Serbia. Believed to be pathways to the divine, or even seen as windows to heaven, these often acted as objects for devotion and worship throughout history. The exhibition runs until August 8.
Prepare to envision the end of the world with these thought-provoking artworks. For this exhibition, the AGA commissioned artists to envision and create a “nest” to cope with the end of the world — however it may come about. From hopeful and optimistic to humorous and ironic, these nests offer refuge, reprieve, rejuvenation and difficult truths. The works are meant to spark conversations and inspire you to think about what your own personal nest might be, how you face current challenges, and what the future might look like. The exhibition runs until September 5.
