In the heart of Chinatown, you’ll find the best Korean place in the city. Originally located on the south side, the 97th Street spot, with furniture brought in from South Korea, is now the headquarters for the Lee family’s venture. It’s a long way from the original spot, an unassuming strip-mall hole-in-the-wall.
Go in a big group and order the fried chicken; it’s served family-style in a basket. The fantastic crisp coating jackets the juicy meat within. We’ve debated in the office if it’s the best fried chicken in town. If it isn’t No. 1, it’s in the top three for sure.
Another must-do for a large group is ordering a large bowl of Korean pork bone soup. The meaty and spicy broth is one of the true gems of Korean cuisine, and eating it is meant to be a social experience.-Steven Sandor
