Kick off the end of summer with a patio day party hosted by the Black-Owned Market Edmonton (BOM YEG) and La Connexional in celebration of the BOM YEG and Token Bitters collaboration.
BOM YEG’s Vendor Manager Kelly Chisholm worked with Token Bitters to create a custom flavour profile including coconut, lime leaf and mint. Chisholm, who is also a bartender, concocted a feature cocktail and mocktail using the bitters for the launch party at Central Social Hall’s downtown location so that guests can taste the bitters in action.
“Bitters are just really versatile and add a little bit of a different flavour to whatever you’re putting [them] into,” says Rochelle Ignacio, operations business manager for BOM YEG.
All proceeds from the launch party go towards BOM YEG, which is a volunteer initiative that has reinvested over $35,000 back into the Black community during the last year. BOM YEG is known for its virtual and popup markets featuring Black-owned businesses. Your ticket to the BOM YEG patio party includes a cocktail or mocktail made with the cocolime mint bitters.
“It’s just a great way to launch our product, and it’s a celebration,” says Ignacio. “It’s a good way to close up summer, and internally, we’re also using it as our staff and volunteer appreciation. So, I think it’s just gonna be good vibes.”
BOM YEG’s patio party is on September 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Social Hall’s patio, located at 10909 Jasper Ave. Tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.
