2. Fox Burger
The Highlands may not be well known as a food district, but a block on 112th Avenue contains what could be called a new classic spot. Next to a coffee shop and modern boutique store sits the equally adorable Fox Burger. Adorable might seem like an odd way to describe a burger place, but, with its checkered storefront, candles and intimate seating, Fox Burger might be the most charming one in town. Don’t expect it to be empty, even on a quiet Wednesday night.
And don’t expect anything but local quality food and booze. It has a saucy bacon burger, a roasted mushroom burger, tuna and a couple of veggie burgers. But I tried the Crispy Buffalo Chicken burger — a dish that many places mess up by over frying and drying out — and it’s probably the best I’ve had. Paired with addictive garlic fries, it was a hefty meal that went down fast.
