For many years, the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) has hosted its formal event of the year, The Holly Ball, which celebrates the successes of the past year and offers an exclusive preview of the 2017 exhibitions. “This event has a long tradition for the AGA,” said Catherine Crowston, executive director and chief curator at the gallery. “It is important to keep such traditions of philanthropic support going.” More than 170 guests – including City Council officials, bankers and associates – attended the November 27 event to show their support for the AGA, while learning of the new exhibitions set forth for the new year. The event included a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, where one member of each table – wearing a chef’s hat and apron – cut the turkey. Music was provided by Edmonton’s own A/B Trio, who won Jazz Recording of the Year at this year’s Edmonton Music Awards.
