A car dealership seems like an unlikely venuefor a masquerade party, but Volvo of Edmonton on the south side was just that, where guests donned black tie attire and ornate masks for the second annual Art, Wine & Charity Masquerade.
Hosted by the Viva Voce Group on Feb. 10, the event raised money to help support the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. “It’s important for us to give back, because we have had many people help us along the way,” said Mukai Maromo, operations manager at Viva Voce Group. “Giving back is one of the ways we pay that goodwill forward.”
The event brought out more than 90 guests for hors d’oeuvres, dessert from Over The Top Cakes, libations from Yellowhead Brewery, Hansen Distillery and Royal Dragon Vodka and a silent auction, featuring custom artworks from Conrad Plews, Kristi Dick and Brooke Erin. Through ticket sales and the silent auction, organizers raised their goal of $5,000 for the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, almost tripling the amount raised at last year’s event.
“The Lois Hole Hospital for Women has done many wonderful things for the Edmonton community,” said Maromo. “We want to raise funds for them, as well as showcase the wonderful work they have done. We love what they stand for and the service they provide to the Edmonton community.”
