While watching The Weeknd’s music video for “Secrets,” you may not know that its star – model Hannah Donker – has an Edmonton connection. Mode Models, an agency in Edmonton and Calgary that Kelly Streit started in Red Deer 30 years ago, scouted Donker. In that time Streit and his team have represented hundreds of models, many of them travelling and working internationally, including Avenue Edmonton past cover star Tricia Helfer and current cover star Meghan Collison.
While celebrating 30 years of magazine covers, fashion shows, ad campaigns and so much more with its high-calibre models, Mode looks into the future with Mode Made, an annual party and fashion show for international agencies starring emerging talent.
“Mode Made is a collaboration of our new generation of models and the talented artists we work with,” Streit says. “We love to showcase to agencies around the world not only the work we do scouting and developing new models, but the incredible talent in hair, makeup, design and food that Edmonton has to offer. It’s such a unique opportunity to have all of these things in one event and have top agencies from around the world spend a few days in Edmonton getting a taste of what we have to offer. It’s about us sharing with you all what we do at Mode Models and, most importantly, having a good time!”
