Edmonton, Alberta — February 18, 2025 — Odvod Publishing Inc. announces the end of an era: Steven Sandor is leaving his post as editor of Edify magazine to return to his roots in newspaper journalism.
Sandor has been at the helm of Odvod’s publishing titles since 2010. “I look back at the last decade and a half with nothing but fond memories — and I wish Edify all the best for the future. I have said it many times, this magazine is like a family to me.
“I will also miss the building’s ghosts.”
Trudy Callaghan, publisher of Edify and principal of Odvod says, “Steven and I will always be friends. I will miss leaning on the doorway of his office and having lively conversations about our city, magazines and the Oxford comma. We share a deep commitment to publishing and the telling of stories about Edmonton with journalistic standards. We’ve worked together through some really difficult stuff – the death of my life partner, publisher Orville Chubb, and the pandemic. We shared really great moments too: the rebrand to Edify in 2020, multiple awards — especially Magazine of the Year from the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association.”
Odvod Publishing was established in 2006 and has grown to be one of Alberta’s largest magazine publishers. Its flagship title Edify, and also Urban Affairs, along with several custom titles including: Together We Thrive for Edmonton Community Foundation; Here for University Hospital Foundation; Invest Alberta/Xperience Alberta for Economic Developers of Alberta; and Alberta Innovators for Consulting Engineers of Alberta.
Callaghan says, “Plans are underway for an interim/guest editor to step in to allow sufficient time for a new editor to be named. And, as a longtime newspaper subscriber, I’ll be watching for Steven’s byline.”
