Making cards isn’t a simple task. One card takes upwards of an hour to complete, depending on the design and customization, but Janice Morden doesn’t want to spend her time doing anything else.
“I was a teacher for 33 years and when I retired, I needed something to do,” says Morden. “So, I got more into it and now that’s what I do everyday.”
Morden started making cards in 2004 and started selling them on Instagram and Facebook under the brand Stamped From the Heart about four years ago. She spends a few days a week making cards and estimates she makes about six a day. Her customers keep her busy, but that’s how she likes it.
Each card is $5 and customers can message Morden for a customized card, or they can pick from the piles of cards Morden has premade.
“It’s not a money making business. It’s for fun. You have to love it,” says Morden. “I just think it’s important for people to send cards. It lets people know that you’re thinking of them, and spreads some joy and kindness, something we can all use more of.”
