It’s time to get out and enjoy the summer in the Edmonton area. There’s no shortage of activities and destinations to keep you entertained and safe this summer. And what better way to do that than with a scoop or two (or three) of ice cream. We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite spots to help with your summer plans.
There are many parks and pathways to explore in Edmonton. Jackie Parker Park is a perfect spot for small groups, picnics, and walking a dog. Mill Creek runs through the park and offers a nice pathway for exploring the area. Afterwards, be sure to grab a cone at Scoops n’ Treats.

Pigeon Lake, southwest of Edmonton, has swimming, fishing and camping spots. Daisy McBeans at the south end of the lake is a great spot to cool down with an ice cream.

There are many activities at Broadmoor Lake Park in Sherwood Park with a playground, spray park, volleyball courts, running track and a network of trails. The Ice Cream Shack is just a short hop away.

The North Saskatchewan River runs through Fort Saskatchewan, where there are plenty of parks and pathways along the river to spend an afternoon. Millers Ice Cream is just a short walk away from the banks of the river.

Mirror Lake was created in Camrose in 1905 as a water reservoir and has become a hotspot for numerous summer activities with a playground, walking trail and picnic tables. The crown jewel of Mirror Lake Park is OleO’s Ice Cream Castle.

You’ll find Thunder Ridge Trails Ranch southwest of Edmonton near Devon. Enjoy a peaceful horseback ride on a beautiful 600+ acre farm and stop by Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream Barn in Calmar afterwards.

Wabamun Lake is a popular spot just west of Edmonton for camping, fishing, boating, biking and swimming. Be sure to swing by Yellow Submarine on the northeast corner of the lake for a delicious ice cream cone.
