In the fall of 2024, BILD Edmonton Metro celebrated four exceptional leaders — Susan Keating, Cameron Naqvi, Peter Moore, and Elise Shillington – recognizing them with the prestigious Spirit Awards for their transformative contributions to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
Susan Keating, Vice President of Community Development at Melcor Developments, received the Spirit Award, for her collaborative approach in shaping both the community and industry association. As the recent Board Chair of the Urban Development Institute – Edmonton Metro, Susan played a pivotal role in amalgamation of UDI with CHBA – Edmonton Region, resulting in the formation of BILD Edmonton Metro. Under her leadership, she advocates for every voice to be heard and demonstrates how individual and collective efforts can pave the way for future leaders.
Cameron Naqvi, President of Cameron Corporation, was honoured with the Outstanding Industry Contribution Award. In his tenure, Cameron has overseen the creation of over 9 million square feet of commercial space and thousands of residential units. For him, success is defined not merely by numbers, but by the communities he builds. His recent project, the Market at Centre in the Park, stands as Sherwood Park’s first main street, blending residential and commercial spaces while championing sustainable practices.
Peter Moore, the former Regional Director for Arcadis, was awarded the Honorary Life Membership Award. With over 35 years of experience, Peter has been instrumental in shaping municipal policies and elevating industry standards, notably through his development of the City of Edmonton’s Arterial Roadway Assessment system. His commitment to mentoring young engineers exemplifies his belief in the importance of talent cultivation and knowledge sharing within the industry.
Elise Shillington, Development Manager at Cantiro, received the Emerging Leader Award. A rising star in the field, Elise has quickly made a name for herself as a passionate advocate for innovative planning and policy reform. As chair of the Developing and Redeveloping Committee at BILD, she has taken on significant leadership responsibilities, influencing critical initiatives like The City Plan and the new Zoning Bylaw.
