Kristina Hahn Eleniak was not satisfied with the jewellery she saw 20 years ago, so she decided to design her own. She still remembers the first piece she made — beaded earrings she describes as being “cool enough to be asked about them on the street in the ‘90s.”
The handcrafted jewellery Hahn Eleniak creates at Peacock and Lime are mostly made of earthly materials like copper, gemstones, beads and leather. The ever-growing inventory features a mix of styles, from boho to steampunk. But most importantly, they are designed for “free spirits.” Right now, Hahn Eleniak has a new collection of celestial-themed jewellery, including the popular “sun, moon and beach glass dangle earrings.”
“I try to release a little bit of new designs whenever I have new ideas. But if you ask me to create a whole new batch every season, that might be too stressful for me,” laughs Hahn Eleniak when asked about the production schedule.
Although Hahn Eleniak is now more focused on running her business online, there are chances to catch her at local marketplaces like the Take Care market.
“One thing that’s really cool about selling at the markets is that sometimes people tell you why they’re buying a piece,” says Hahn Eleniak. “I have customers who purchased a piece of jewellery incarnated with ‘fearless and strong’ to resonate with their current challenges in life. I also had a customer who bought a wish bracelet several years ago, who came back to the market later to let me know that her wishes came true. It was truly awesome.”
