Ashley Craine first started making custom growth charts for kids in 2015. As a mother herself, she wanted to create growth charts that had certain looks to them – a rustic, farmhouse-inspired aesthetic. At the time, she had no idea that her home-based business would soon grow into much, much more.
“In the beginning, I started with just selling on Facebook. I sold a ton of them and then I learned a lot, like you know that material doesn’t work on this or this doesn’t work on that,” she says. “And then as it grew it was like OK, well let’s try something new.”
Craine took the skills she’d learned making growth charts and began making other home decor objects. She began designing wooden and acrylic signs, ornaments and porch planters, all of which could be customized with names or drawings. As her product line grows, she’s constantly expanding the tools in her production shop as well, to include five Cricut cutting machines, two lasers for engraving, and a UV printer on the way.
Ultimately, the growing shop and product line are a testament to Craine’s creativity.
“I actually love the designing aspect of Little Prairie. I love all my ornaments. I have designed all of them, and haven’t bought any files,” she says. “That’s my jam. I love it.”
