Trying to figure out how to spell “upholstery” correctly, Jason Toshach started his journey in this industry from the marketing and sales side four years ago. It wasn’t until he met co-owner Glenn Sheets, an incredible local upholsterer with 40 years of knowledge and experience, that Peppers Upholstery Studio was established in November 2020.
“Neither of us has the family name of Peppers,” laughs Toshach. “Our brand logo is a combination of the Beatles references, my Wes Anderson obsession, and a common word.”
Toshach and Sheets’s shared love of collaborating with local businesses kept them busy from the start. You can find customized furniture manufactured by Peppers Upholstery Studio all around Edmonton — booths and banquettes at Transcend Coffee (Garneau), horizontal fluted banquette at Milk and Cookies Bakeshop, custom benches at Dogpatch and many more.
For Toshach, one of the best weekend activities is to watch the local businesses they collaborate with thrive.
“Glenn and I always wanted to make our work memorable. We love using loud colors and abstract styles, but the first step is always to match the owners’ energies. ” Knowing the importance of social media representation for small businesses, Toshach wants their upholstery to give the best customer impression possible.
