When it comes to the holiday season, we think about families. But, the numbers show that there will be fewer visits to Santa in the Christmas seasons to come. Why? Because we’re having fewer kids.
According to Statistics Canada, Albertans will have an estimated 48,799 kids over the two-year period from 2020-2021. Compare that to 2016-17, when Albertans had almost 54,786 babies.
To break that down, in 2016, we had 13.3 babies for every 100,000 Albertans. By 2020, it had slowed to 11.1. At least we’re making it easier on Santa…?
