Innovation comes in many forms. When we hear the “I” word, most of us think about the stuff of science fiction. But it’s also about finding better ways to live our everyday lives. We have all sorts of innovators, doing great things on very differing scales.
This is our fourth annual Innovation issue — in which we recognize that creative thinking and problem solving happens on many levels.
“Albertans are innovative and creative – seeking out new paths to the future, applying new knowledge and technologies to traditional sectors like agriculture, health and energy,” says Laura Kilcrease, CEO of Alberta Innovates.
“At the same time, we’re using data, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, clean tech and other emerging technologies to pivot to new opportunities across sectors. Our researchers and entrepreneurs are continually looking for the ideas that will help create wealth for our businesses and our economy, improve our personal health and sustain our environment. Alberta Innovates has helped Albertans to develop transformative industries. The next century will bring unbound opportunities with technologies and innovations we can only imagine today. We need to make sure that Albertans can grasp those opportunities and thrive into the future.”
