On Anthony Henday Drive heading south, turn right onto Terwillegar Drive and you’ll find a series of eye-catching communities that together make up Windermere. As “winder” means to take one’s breath away and “mere” is the boundary of an area, the neighbourhood paints a perfect backdrop for an afternoon drive.
Before the area underwent drastic residential and commercial development starting in 2006, the valley was predominantly farmland and part of Strathcona County. It became part of the southwest region of Edmonton in 1982 and is now a welcome mat for a variety of new homeowners. Like most communities situated beside a river, the oldest homes boast the best views. The North Saskatchewan River marks the western boundary of Windermere and is lined with beautiful houses built as far back as 1960.
Not only is there minimal traffic, plenty of parking and beautiful homes to see, but there are also numerous entertainment attractions and hidden gems ready to unearth.
