Fundrasier Event for Edmonton Humane Society
Collars and tags, not necklaces and bracelets, were the hottest accessories as Coventry Homes presented the eighth annual Paws & Claws Gala at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, bringing together animal lovers to raise funds and awareness for the Edmonton Humane Society.
In addition to the two-legged guests, there were plenty of cute, four-legged attendees at the gala from the EHS. Cats, dogs, rabbits and even a corn snake were there to greet guests and maybe find their forever homes.
Catering for the evening was provided by Northlands, while Canadian songstress Sass Jordan entertained the crowd.
The money raised through the gala and the silent auction helps pay for animal protection, veterinary services and shelter operations at the EHS. Edmonton Humane Society CEO Miranda Jordan-Smith
“We value all donations, whether it is $10 or $10,000 – it has an impact on animals’ lives,” said EHS CEO Miranda Jordan-Smith, a member of Avenue‘s 2015 Top 40 Under 40. “Anything people can give, we’re eternally grateful for.” Edmonton-Griesbach MP Kerry Diotte and Clare Denman Coventry Homes CEO Henri Rodier
“People are interested in making sure animals have a good life too. We’re animal lovers; we’ve had cats all our lives. Everybody’s got a story about animals, so when you put something like this on, it reminds you of all that.” -Henri Rodier, CEO, Coventry Homes Event co-ordinator Liisa Jorgensen
“Everybody that is helping out with this event is so passionate. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have an affinity toward animals.” -Liisa Jorgensen, event-coordinator
