This park hugs the North Saskatchewan and offers water access so water loving-dogs can cool down on a hot summer day. It also has a large open field for play and quiet walking trails. This is a multi-use park and is often used as a hot air balloon launch site. Dogs must be leashed when balloons are launched.

This 186-acre park has one of the largest off-leash dog parks in the city with multiple trails to wander. It has packed gravel trails, access to pond areas and beautiful views of the river. This multi-use park is bustling and vibrant in the summertime.

Pack up your pup and make the quick 30-minute drive west for a new dog park adventure. Located in Spruce Grove, this dog park has more than 8.6 acres off-leash space. That includes nearly one-kilometre of gravel walking trails, multiple seating areas with benches and trees for shade and a designated section specifically for small dogs.

This popular Leduc off-leash park is fully fenced and open 24 hours a day. It offers 40 acres of mixed parkland including trails through forest and wetland. It has benches and dog waste bags are supplied. At 30 minutes south, this park is definitely worth the trip.

About 50-kilometres east of Edmonton, Elk Island National Park has multiple trails for you and your pooch to explore. This is not an off-leash area and your dog needs to be leashed at all times, especially because the park is home to herds of bison, deer and elk.
If you’re up for a moderate trek, the Hayburger Trail is a 12.2-km 3 to 4 hike that winds up and through open meadow and aspen forest. For a more leisurely stroll, the Shoreline Trail around Astotin Lake is 6-km out and back along a paved trail. It’s perfect for a picnic.
