Edmonton is already thriving with green space, but Keswick on the River (part of the larger Keswick group of neighbourhoods) is right in the wilderness, in the best possible way. The river valley is steps away, and you can walk to the nearby neighbourhood of The Banks at Keswick to enjoy the unobstructed views. Or you can proceed to hike around the 18 acres of green space surrounding the Keswick neighbourhoods.
Since Keswick on the River is on the southwest edge of the city, it might not seem transit-friendly at first glance, but the neighbourhood has On Demand Transit that can take residents to Ledger or Century Park transit stations.
The Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre is only a 30-minute bike ride or 13-minute drive away, and nearby Currents of Windermere offers groceries and other amenities. This expanding complex could keep you busy for all afternoon with retail and dining options. Kevin Lai, a resident of Keswick on the River, spoke about his love for the neighbourhood where he built his house. “Everything is within walking distance, nature-wise. The river valley is two minutes away, so I can oversee the sunset.” It makes him feel like the river is his own.
It’s a delight to encounter a place that becomes part of your routine and Lai found this at Common Grounds Coffee. “It serves great coffee and matcha, and it has a premium taste,” he says. It’s three minutes from his home, and he says people visit from the north side.
Lai describes the experience of living in Keswick on the River as elevated. Ten years in the making and something about it feels premium. He notes that lottery homes — such as the Mighty Millions — have been built in the area. “That must say something about the neighbourhood,” he says.
Keswick on the River was the first Keswick development in Windermere. Construction started in 2011 and now it is almost fully sold out.
