Don’t let the unassuming space fool you.
Wok N Roll, a restaurant on Edmonton’s north side, should be your go-to for reliably tasty Chinese food, says Howard Poon, VP design director at FKA, an Edmonton-based marketing and ad agency.
If ambience is what you’re after, there are better-known options, but Poon stands firm by his pun-forward pick.
“It’s not about presentation; it’s more about comfort food,” he adds. “It’s the way they prepare it that hits the spot for me.”
The standout: Wok N Roll’s barbecue pork buns.
“They’re finished off with baking, so the exterior is a little bit crispy. It’s a different experience and if you haven’t tried them, I would say that’s a go-to.”
In the end, Wok N Roll passes his true test for an outstanding local spot: “I take people from out of town there all the time.”
